If you AVOID the Instinctive Drive to Complete™, you…
If you AVOID the Instinctive Drive to Complete you may recognise this…You're half way through that report and the phone rings - you jump to pick it up. As far as you're concerned any interruption is a good interruption. You love the unpredictable nature of life. Who will the call be from? What could be just around the corner? It's a new client confirming an order - fantastic! You hang up and completely forget about the report and start thinking about the new client and what you need to do about that. The report can wait for a little longer this is much more exciting. That's what you really like about your work, the variety, the need to respond to different projects in a different way. You thrive on the variety and the unpredictable nature of your work. The idea of knowing exactly what you would be doing tomorrow just fills you will horror. You are a natural fire fighter - you love the possibility that everything could change in a heartbeat and it's when you are at your best. It's not that you don't complete anything at all. You love achieving. There's nothing quite like holding the final product in your hand. You rejoice in meeting a challenge. But you quickly throw it aside and start looking for something else to do. You cringe if you think of the half finished shelves in the garage or the partially knitted jumpers or that incomplete correspondence writing course you were all excited about last year! You always mean to get back to them but rarely do. It's now or never with you. You are demotivated by predictability and routine. Others accuse you of being flippant and may even question your integrity and congruency because you change your mind so often. But to you it's a strength, you bend and weave with the moment and are incredibly adaptable which makes you a valuable asset in a crisis. |
